The National Drug Research Institute (NDRI) conducts and disseminates high quality research that contributes to the primary prevention of harmful drug use and the reduction of drug related harm in Australia. Formed in 1986, NDRI plays a key role in national harm prevention strategies through research designed to establish the preventive potential of legislative, economic, regulatory and educational interventions.
NDRI is located at Curtin University's Health Research Campus in the western Perth suburb of Shenton Park and receives core funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.
NDARC is a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Abuse. WHO collaborating centres are institutions designated by the Director-General to carry out activities in support of the Organisation's programs. Currently there are over 800 WHO collaborating centres in over 80 Member States working with WHO on areas such as nursing, occupational health, communicable diseases, nutrition, mental health, chronic diseases and health technologies.
UNODC works to educate the world about the dangers of drug abuse and to strengthen international action against drug production, trafficking and drug-related crime. Established in 1997 through a merger between the United Nations Drug Control Programme and the Centre for International Crime Prevention, UNODC operates in all regions of the world through an extensive network of field offices.
UNAIDS is partnership program that works to achieve universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support. The program's aim is zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination of those with HIV, and zero AIDS-related deaths.
The EMCDDA was established in 1993 and exists to provide the European Union and its Member States with a factual overview of European drug problems and a solid evidence base to support the drugs debate.
